Above all else, this site is still being developed. We appreciate anyone promoting our site before it is completed, and we think this site is informative even in its current state.

Why did we create this site?

This site was created to fill a need that we saw in the web hosting industry; a need for accountability. No matter where you turn you will see a different web host trying to run a unique business, and each one of these web hosts will portray their product as being better than the competition's. With literally tens of thousands of web hosting providers asking for your money, it is completely overwhelming to make a proper selection. Even if you were able to pick the right host for your web site, you couldn't possibly get all the benefits of what you are paying for without help.

HostSentry is here to help the industry and community, and that is really the entire purpose of this site. This site will provide you with coupon codes, detailed statistics, and reliable reviews, all with the intention of helping you find the right web hosting provider.

Or at least, what was previously an incredible inconvenience. The vast majority of web hosting providers offer what they refer to as an "uptime guarantee"; since your web site should be viewable when you need it, companies will give you a refund if it isn't. What these hosting companies don't tell you is that for the most part they require proof of the site being offline, and even the biggest companies out there don't keep records of that. You either need to be talking on the phone to a sales representative (maybe impossible?) when your site goes down, or you need our help.

The saying goes when it comes to HostSentry: we have more logs than a log cabin (a lot more). If your site goes down for even a second, we log it, graph it, and let you know it happened. Without a third party source to verify your claim, you are either going to get lucky or you aren't getting a refund.
